A Case of Security- Cyber Security

I recently completed a four weeks course on Cyber Security training for Teachers and found the information, tips, and tricks beneficial to all at this time.  This blog post will be part one of four part series as I will be posting weekly on the topic of Cybersecurity and why this  topic is highly relevant during distance learning as well as personally.

Technology has impacted the way we interact, work, learn, and even how we teach.  Through technology, we are able to teach online using video conferencing platforms such as Zoom and Google Meet. Examinations are now administered online, and teachers and students across the globe can access materials via learning management systems and platforms. This has positively enhanced distance and online learning, therefore, extending the reach of education into rural and remote areas. Despite the life-changing impact of technology, it has also raised a case of security.  Cybersecurity attacks are rising rapidly than before due to the incorporation of online learning in learning institutions.  It is therefore imperative for all individuals to be mindful of these attacks and the consequences that may arise from them.

So, what is Cybersecurity, Cyberspace and how do we protect ourselves and others virtually.

So how secure are your devices? Have you ever experienced a cyberattack or know someone who has? It is therefore very important for you to learn about cybersecurity. That way you will know about cybersecurity, the varied attacks and how to protect yourself. Stay tuned for more vital information in my next issue of a Case of Security- Cybersecurity.
